Sunday Snapshots of the Week

The warmth of a friend's presence brings joy to our hearts, sunlight to our souls, and pleasure to all of life.

Chase, Madeleine, and Skyler enjoying an afternoon snack.
I love Madeleine's new hairdo!
Nighty night!  Chase always begins his bedtime prayers with:
"Dear God, thank you for the world around us."
The last couple of weeks he's been worried about volcanoes:
"God, please warn us before a volcano erupts so that
we can go inside the house.  Thank you."
Dim sum with Sandra at Fortune in Falls Church.
This restaurant is special because it's where my Baby "Sprinkle"
for Evan was held, and I also ate lunch there the day before Evan's birth
since I read that chinese food might help naturally induce labor.
Guess it worked!  (Along with a wild jog around the neighborhood,
eggplant parmesan for dinner, and a good cry with Marley and Me at midnight!)
My Little Goofball
Running away from Mama.  These days, Evan
loves to throw things down the stairs, which can be
quite scary/dangerous when you're unsuspecting
and on the receiving end.
Evan loves books, and Ellen makes story time so much fun!
We received these Japanese picture books from Uchida-sensei.
Little scribbler. I only recently thought to
give Evan pen/crayon and paper; in my mind,
he's still a "baby," but of course at this point
he's more than ready and loves it!
Mom's Little "Helper."  See all the toys on the floor?
He's thrown them there after inspecting each one.
These days he steps/climbs on whatever he can
to get to what he wants (such as his siblings'
fave toys or other choking hazards...)
Saturday: second tooth!  "Mom, can you please pull
my tooth for me?  It's really sore!"
"ME?!!  Why don't you do it?  You did it the last time!"
"I really want you to do it.  Please, it hurts."
"Okay..." With eyes squinted almost shut, I go to work.
Hurray!  I was so proud of both of us.
Sky for being brave and me?  For not fainting!
(I'm squeamish around blood, especially
when it comes from one of my munchkins!)
Chase was invited to his first drop-off birthday party!
Luckily, Skyler was also invited to hang out with
the birthday boy's big sister (one of her
preschool pals), so there was some "back-up support."
Drop-off at the party.  See the little balled up fist?
That was the first sign that this was a no-go.
After Chase made it more than clear to me and
everyone else that he wasn't going to stay,
he and I skedaddled.  Sigh.
What can I say?  He didn't feel ready,
and a Mama's gotta pick her battles!
A big thank you to Emmanuelle, Issa,
and their beautiful kids!
"Daffodils, Mom!  Tulips!  More Daffodils!"
It's nowhere near spring, but Trader Joe's had tons of
spring flowers for sale!
Leave it to TJ's to bring a smile to my face!
We all love pho (Skyler calls it "heaven in a bowl") and
our favorite pho restaurant is Pho Vin Loi in Falls Church.
These days when we go, the outwardly gruff, but
super nice Mr. Young (above) gives the kids
Twizzlers candy!
