We're going on an adventure
Wherever we will go...
(To the tune of Peter Pan's "Following the Leader")
Skyler and I first made up the lyrics and started singing this song when we were on our Girls' Escape Weekend back in the fall of 2009. Now, this is what the (older) kids and I sing whenever we are embarking on a big outing, exploring someplace new, or just getting out to have some fun.
Today was an ordinary weekend day. The older kids and I took a walk around the neighborhood while Evan took his nap. We discovered a new (to us) path to our neighborhood park and played there for a bit. Later, we visited one of our old favorite haunts, Penrose Park. It was Evan's first time there, and he had a blast. Skyler and Chase jumped about from one play structure to the next, remembering how we'd often come here after school when Skyler was in Pre-K.
The sky was overcast, and the air had a hint of springtime in it. Plus, I saw a tree with some sort of blossoms on it while I was driving home. I nearly stomped on my brakes at the sight of it. It was a fun day, a typical weekend day. And for me and my brood, an adventure nonetheless.

Whaa! I can't believe how big the kiddos look!
ReplyDeleteAnd what is the whitish "pancake" looking thing on your plate? Looks so yummy!
It's this chip-like thing (almost like a big shrimp chip but thicker and with sesame seeds) that you use to scoop up the baby clams...it is deeee-lish!
