Skyler's gotten Tangled. This is probably the first movie that she's really been into. After seeing the movie at the theater late last year, she has read the junior novelization of the movie, and the Tangled soundtrack is our nightly dinner music of choice (has been for the last couple of months.) We just got the DVD last week (thanks, Ellen!) and it was our Friday night movie night pick (and I suspect more of that in the future.)
The way she talks about the movie, especially the romantic love aspect of it, and the way she knows the soundtrack so well (as in what song comes after each), gives me a glimpse of the future. Her excitement reminds me of how I have felt in times past when I've discovered a great story, movie, soundtrack. I think, how lucky she is that she has so many great things to experience for the first time. How lucky am I, as a mother, to be able to experience them new again...through my daughter's (and all my children's) eyes.

| Text-to-text and text-to-movie connections: we read two versions of Rapunzel before viewing the movie, one by Rachel Isadora (a favorite author of ours) and the other by Paul O. Zelinsky (amazingly illustrated, winner of Caldecott medal.) |

| We saw the movie on Chase's Half birthday, 12/28/10. Here the kids pose at the theater with Justin Beaver (as Chase likes to call him.) |
